The purpose of this essay is to analyse the movie Hotel Rwanda from a didactic point of view using the movie?s use of history and historical culture as the main analytical tools. We also intend to problematize the use of movies in teaching focusing on the teaching guide from the Swedish film institution concerning Hotel Rwanda. We choose to work with a qualitative method. The reason why we decided to work with a qualitative method is the intention, as mentioned before, to analyse the movie using the tools we described earlier.

The purpose of this study is to explain if the existence of ethnic groups in Rwanda has complicated its democratization and explain what opportunities Rwanda has to be democratized. To fulfill the purpose of the study, I intend to answer two questions: 1) Does the existence of ethnic groups obstructed democratization in Rwanda? and 2) What opportunities has Rwanda to be democratized? To answer the first research question Dahl's theory of subcultures and democratization is used and to answer the second research question van de Walle's theory of democratization is used in the region of sub-Saharan Africa. Literature used in the study are Dahl's Polyarchy and van de Walle Africa?s range of regimes and Freedom House annual reports.

The Rwandan genocide 1994 was a well-planned and ethnic based act that killedapproximately 900 000 people. The UN and the colonial powers are getting much attentionand are worldly discussed about the failure of interference before and during the genocide. Inthis study the history of colonial Rwanda will be analyzed and the UN relation will bediscussed. Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the situation for independent hotels. With a thorough case study of ?The Grand Hotel in Lund? ,our intentions is to gain knowledge about the demands a hotel must keep up with in order to be a successful independent hotel, in a market dominated by chain-constellations. Methodology: An abductive method is used as the study form the basis for hypothesis. The first part of the thesis, which describes the line of business, is based primary on secondary data.

In the Darfur region, located in the West of Sudan, there is a conflict between rebel groups and the government-supported Janjaweed militia. The fighting?s, which started in 2003, has caused the loss of at least 200 000 human life and more than 2 million people have fled their homes. Den här uppsatsen undersöker hur svenskt bistånd påverkar lokala förhållanden i Rwanda. Genom att analysera hur en NGO verksam i Rwanda, Vi-skogen, påverkas av de riktlinjer som satts upp av Sida, Sveriges biståndsorgan, så visar den hur en instrumentell inställning i bistånd kan vara etiskt problematiskt, samt ett hot mot själva genomförandet. Först fokuserar analysen på Vi-skogen Rwandas inbördes relationer och hur dessa påverkas av den instrumentella målsättningen, för att sedan vidgas till att diskutera hur deras arbete i Rwanda påverkas, och hur detta påverkar de bönder de arbetar med. Studien bygger på empiriskt material insamlat under ett tre månaders besök till Rwanda och Vi-skogen. Analysen använder sig främst av Jürgen Habermas teorier kring systemets kolonialisering av livsvärlden, samt Erving Goffmans teorier om individers självpresentation i samhället.

Uppsatsen forskar i två länder som har gjort stora satsningar på IKT-infrastruktur och som har genomgått stor utveckling efter just dessa satsningar. Länderna vi valt att studera och jämföra är Singapore och Rwanda. Singapore som för 40 år sedan var ett utvecklingsland, men efter stora satsningar på IKT-infrastruktur under 70-talet, idag 2013 är ett av de ekonomiska starkaste länderna i världen med en hög konkurrenskraft . Vi har använt Singapore som jämförelse mot ett av dagslägets utvecklingsländer Rwanda. Rwanda drog år 2000 igång en plan vid namn Rwanda Vision 2020 som ska göra Rwanda till just ?Afrikas Singapore?.

This thesis seeks to investigate how Swedish first class hotels by use of IT can improve customer service and thereby increase the share of loyal guests. The authors have conducted a qualitative study predominantly consisting of an interview-based case study at one of Stockholm?s largest independent hotels. To get a broader and more generalized picture of the hotel industry four smaller studies at other hotels in Stockholm were also conducted. The findings suggest that the use of IT can improve the communication between the hotel and its guests and make possible a continuing relationship between visits that strengthens guest commitment.

The purpose of this thesis was to illustrate the use of internal marketing in the hotel industry. It was decided to conduct a case study on two hotels in the same region, Quality Hotell Statt and Pite Havsbad. The case study is based on personal interviews with the managers of each hotel, who have the ultimate responsibility of the internal marketing work. The research questions were based on why the hotel industry work with internal marketing and how the hotel industry work with internal marketing. The study showed that the hotel industry work with internal marketing on daily basis to get low employee turnover rates, increased employee job satisfaction and high quality services.
